In this episode Gino and Chris "ZombiePie" -REDACTED- discuss Hatoful Boyfriend as punishment for Gino missing a show a few months ago. We discuss the quality of the game's pigeon romance simulation and it's clever writing. Gino then laments the game's failure at critiquing the Dating Sim genre. We finish up by ranking Hatoful Boyfriend among all of the games Chris has forced Gino to play.

Regarding the games you're criticizing where you don't make any choices (kinetic novels), you're painting them with too broad a brush.

'Click to see the story'...? What's wrong with a good story accompanied by voice acting, music, and visuals? Ever heard of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni? Umineko no Naku Koro ni? Narcissu? Planetarian? Phenomeno? Fault Milestone One/Two? World End Economica?

You've spent the whole episode basically telling your friend not to write off an entire genre without ever experiencing it, then turn around and do the same thing to a genre you've apparently never experienced.

And let's be honest, a ton of visual novels - including Steins;Gate which you seem to like a lot - are basically just kinetic novels that give you the choice of which ending you want.

I love Steins;Gate, I bought the JAST collector's edition and then bought it again when it came on Steam, but think about it. Except for the golden ending, you only get like 5 actual decision points across the whole 20 hour game. That's basically one click per four hours that separate it from being a kinetic novel

What do you mean when you say developers pay 5000-6000 dollars to get their game on steam? The fee is $100.
